Sagebrush Sea

The Sagebrush Sea is a vast expanse of sage-dominated canyon and range country found between the Rockies and the Pacific Coast mountain ranges.

We support conservation across the entire Sagebrush Sea but focus on the portions found in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, which are defined by wide-open spaces, large herds of free-ranging antelope, and a stunning high desert landscape punctuated by the massive uplifts of the Wind Rivers, the Uintas, and other dramatic mountain ranges. Wyoming's Red Desert, for instance, is home to more than 350 wildlife species, including bobcats, badgers, ferruginous hawks, and more than 50,000 pronghorn antelope. The Sagebrush Sea is also home to several prairie dog species like the white-tailed, Utah, and Gunnison’s.
