Southern Rockies Healthy Forests
We work to ensure the long-term health of the Southern Rockies forest ecosystems.
The Southern Rockies extends from the Medicine Bow Range of southern Wyoming to the Sangre de Cristo Range of northern New Mexico. The region's tumultuous geologic history has produced an array of dramatic landscapes, including mountains, mesas, basins, wetlands, and rivers. The region's biological diversity reflects this diversity of habitat. While grizzly bears and wolves may no longer traverse the region's wildlands, they may yet return, and at-risk species like the lynx, Colorado River cutthroat trout, and Mexican spotted owl still hang on. The region is home to numerous imperiled plants, invertebrates, and natural communities.
